Are You Mobile Responsive?

Are You Mobile Responsive | A Post By Tiffany Kuehl Designs

In this day and age, the mobile device is becoming the main way people access the internet. That being said, the way you see your website on your desktop or laptop can look completely different to the way your mobile device displays the content. So why is that? Well, you’re mobile device’s web browser only has so much screen to display everything. It also doesn’t load all the extra content that some websites have, like some plugins, flash, and java script in some cases.

You may have noticed that some websites compress and load an ever so slightly stripped down version of the main website. You see menu bars and drop downs that fit your mobile device screen. The links are legible and “clickable” without having to zoom in on the section of the site. This is a “Mobile Responsive” website. If you have built and designed your site in the past couple of years, it should already be mobile responsive or at least have the option to be.

So have you checked your site on your phone or tablet? Does it load the entire page and content correctly to the proper screen size? Yes? Great! You and your site can be seen correctly by possibly millions more people around the world that only have a mobile device as their main computer. If you said no, then we need to figure out why. Right?

How do we figure out what is going on with your site and making it mobile responsive?

If you’re using a platform such as Wordpress, Squarespace or any of the other platforms, check the theme or template. In some cases, it is just a matter of selecting it to be mobile responsive and choosing how it is displayed. In other cases, your theme may not have the ability to be mobile responsive. If this is the case, you may need to update your theme or choose a new one. If you are not sure what platform or how your website is designed, check with your website designer or developer.
