Four Easy Steps to Optimize your Squarespace Website for Facebook
If you were to look at my Squarespace analytics right now, you would see that Facebook is my biggest source of traffic! If you own your own business and are putting it out there for people to see that you do indeed have something to offer, then you have to make sure it looks good when you do it right?
You can EASILY make sure that your Squarespace website looks it's best every single time you promote it by following a few simple steps. I mean super simple my friends! But sadly, a lot of people don't know to take these steps and when they share their link on Facebook it's definitely not attention-grabbing.
WHO'S READY FOR A TUTORIAL???
STEP 1: NAME THAT PAGE
Yes, I am completely 100% serious! When you create a page, give it a good name! It doesn't have to be anything complicated or crazy, but don't just use new page, landing page, or anything like that! Why??? Because when you share that specific page on Facebook, the page title will show in large bold letters. How embarrassing would it be if that temporary page title is what shows? It definitely doesn't tell your potential clients that you have your $h!t together.
STEP 2: GIVE YOUR PAGE A FUN LITTLE DESCRIPTION
In just a couple of sentences, tell us about your page! What does it offer and who is the offer for? Use the main keywords for the service in the page description! It only takes a second to do, and it has a huge impact on how your business looks when you are putting that link out there for the world to see.
Wanna know another added bonus to steps 1 & 2??? You are helping your SEO by doing these steps! So even if you don't share your business on Facebook, doing these steps will do nothing but help your business be seen!
STEP 3: GIVE IT A GOOD VISUAL
People are a lot more likely to click on that link if it is visually stimulating. It's human nature! We like pretty things right? Why would this be any different! Squarespace makes it so easy by giving you multiple chances to give your website good visuals. What I like to do is create one rectangular image with my logo on it.
Once you have your image created go to your Squarespace Dashboard > Design > Logo & Title. Then you simply scroll down to the bottom of the page and add your image to the Social Sharing Logo section. Yes, it says optional, but in my opinion, it's definitely a must. When it's that simple to give people a great first impression of your brand, why the heck wouldn't you?!?
STEP 4: DEBUG FACEBOOK
This step is crucial! Why??? Because if you don't follow this step, it could take days or weeks for you to ever see your changes apply when you share your link on Facebook. While you are logged into facebook on your computer or phone simply go to https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/ and type your URL in. Once you have done this you will want to click the scrape button. You should see all of your hard work right there in one pretty little visual, and if you don't just click scrape again!
YOU ARE OFFICIALLY READY TO SHARE YOUR WEBSITE!!!
I'm serious! It's that simple! The whole thing takes maybe five minutes and it makes your business look so put together when you share it on those Facebook groups that we are all a part of! There is nothing wrong with that right?
