As you open any business, build any brand, or even launch a new blog, you have a few things to consider before you can begin! First you need to think about what service or good you are offering that makes you unique! That step is a lot harder than you would think, and can often change over time. Next you need to think of who you are wanting to buy your service or good, and who your content will ideally appeal to.
I was listening to this amazing business coach on periscope and she said something that really got me thinking. She has an actual avatar of her dream client. She thinks of everything from age group, style, job, and even where they are in their life. This is who she gears her product, her advertisements, and her branding towards.
I was in the process of creating my new brand, and I thought I had an idea of who my dream client was... Until listening to her periscope. Now, I realize that my ideas of a dream client were extremely vague! Which makes total sense because until this rebrand my services were extremely vague as well. I offered such a huge range of services that had nothing to do with each other, and some of these services weren't even anything that I really wanted to do.
So I took her advice to heart and came up with somewhat of an avatar for my dream client!
At first glance my dream client is a creative entrepreneur or blogger who is passionate about what they do, and are looking to take their brand to the next level!
If I dig a little deeper, my dream client is a woman in in the age range of 25-40. She is very hard working! She may be a stay at home mom, or work outside of the home. But, whatever she does she is following her dream and taking a chance on putting her craft out there for the world to see! She definitely has a girly side, loves color, and has a thing about geometric patterns! She loves to drink coffee and listen to music while she works, and even shops at Target and HomeGoods every chance she gets. She is outgoing, and will be a BLAST to work with!
Now that I have her in mind, this is who I will gear everything towards as I start my marketing process. I will write my blog posts to this person, and I will keep her in mind as I work on any items that may be added to my website down the road.
So tell me, have you thought about who your dream client really is? I am so serious when I say that your dream client effects your brand in a huge way! Whether it is for a business or a blog, it is a huge step in creating your identity!
