Blood Mountain Hike

Last weekend was a truly amazing weekend! It started on Friday when Hubs was able to come home from work EARLY! Heck yes! We all got dressed an went to town for dinner just because we were all in such good moods!

Then on Saturday morning we went to Costco and stocked up on some of our items that we typically like to get from there. Am I the only one who gets super excited about a Costco trip?!? Lol! We made sure to hurry there and hurry back because we had way more exciting things going on that day!

We were going to go HIKING at Blood Mountain! For those of you who don't know, this is the highest peak in Georgia and is in Vogel State Park. It's about a forty-five minute drive from our house, but the drive couldn't be more beautiful!

Chris and I have always loved that drive, so getting to do it with Sydney as a family activity was amazing! It was so cute when we would go around a sharp turn she would giggle or raise her arms like it was a roller coaster.

Once we got to Vogel State Park and saw just how gorgeous it was, we were pretty excited for the hike. We had looked online prior to even moving down here and saw this park and the four different hiking trials that it has. We decided to do the Bear Hair Trail. It's a 4.1 hike and is called a leisurely hike on the website.

We had a blast doing it, but let me just tell you something.... That shit was definitely not leisurely! It was a HARD hike! We thought we were like half a mile into the hike, and we were already panting and sweating, but then we see the sign... We were just entering the trail! Haha! Oh well! We kept going, and when we would get tired we would stop for water and some of our yummy organic trail mix from Costco. But when we FINALLY reached the top, it was gorgeous!

As a family, we had just hiked to the top of one of the highest mountains in Georgia! We may not have been the fastest, or the most graceful, doing it. But we did it, and that's what matters!

After staring at this gorgeous view for a few minutes, and eating a bunch more trail mix, we decided to start the hike down. In my mind, the hike down was going to be easier. At parts it was, but there were definitely times where it was even more difficult! Lol. I did learn one thing on this hike though...

WE DESPERATELY NEED A BACKPACK FOR HIKING! Haha! We used to have one, but it broke and we weren't able to hike much in Wisconsin, so we just never replaced it. Lol. I just grabbed anything I could find for this hike, and I was definitely regretting it. Not only was it uncomfortable, but I looked so silly! I didn't even realize how silly until seeing these pictures! Lol. So we are on a hunt for a good, but reasonably priced, backpack for hiking. Because this is definitely just the beginning of our hiking adventures!

Once we found our way to the bottom we decided to go over to the river and just relax for a bit. I mean, we just finished a 4.6 mile hike up an down a mountain! Can you picture a better way to wind down than sitting with your feet in the water while you snack? I know I can't! Next we started our drive back down the mountains. On Saturday I seriously knew just why we moved back. It was the PERFECT summer day in Georgia! After the hike we grilled out and enjoyed our nice family dinner!

Sunday was another pretty great day. We didn't have any plans, so we went to the outlet mall and walked around for a while, just doing a bit more exploring. Then we ran to Home Depot to get some ideas for the house. While we were there we picked up a small container of paint!!! When we got home we put paint on the walls of every room in the house so that we could see how it will look in each room, and at all times of the day. We now have our color, and our weekend projects for this house are about to begin! Yay!

All in all, it was a PERFECT weekend!
