Moving away from my home town is probably honestly the best decision that we could have ever made! Now, I know what your thinking... Are you crazy? Didn't you just move back to your home town??? Hear me out! Moving away was a great decision because I feel that in doing so, I grew as a person and really discovered who I am and who I want to be. Now, three years later, we have moved back to Dahlonega and I see this town in a whole new way. It's almost magical to me, and it's really hard to explain.
First, there are the mountains. I always knew that we were in the mountains, and that you could see them from a certain point in town. But let's be honest, when your growing up, that is just not something that you pay that much attention to. What I never noticed before is that you can see the mountains from almost EVERYWHERE in town! They are seriously so pretty! We were sitting somewhere the week that we moved here, and I could see this amazing view out the window because it was on a hill, and all I could do was sit there and stare. I can not even begin to explain how beautiful it is to me! I love driving around now and seeing them off in the distance at almost all times.
Next would be all of the parks and outdoor activities that there are around here! With our goal of being more active outdoors, this is a beautiful thing! We have been to two of the many parks that we want to explore, and I am loving it! We try to go and hike, or go for a long walk as a family, and then we take Sydney to play at the playground during the weekends. She loves it! We have even been able to take Piggy with us to one of them, so it becomes a full family affair!
Another thing that I am so happy about, is having family close by. We have seen members of the family at least once or twice a week since moving here. If you ask me, that's just the right amount! We live far enough apart that we still have all of the privacy that we want, while feeling close to everyone, and getting to enjoy each other's company.
Even though we have only been here for a couple of weeks, and haven't done too much exploring yet, I just love being back here, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for us in this small town. Sometimes it really does just feel magical, and that is the only word that I can think of to describe it!
