How is it possible that September is already here?

This is always such a huge month for my family, and we are already over a week into it. So to say I have a ton of recaps to post would be an understatement. This month contains both mine and Sydney's birthdays, appointments, and Sydney's first day of school! Since my birthday is September 1st, maybe that should be the first recap to do.

The Taste of Madison always happens to be the weekend of my birthday. It has kind of become a tradition over the last three years for us to go do that. So my birthday is typically celebrated for more than one day. I definitely won't complain about that!

Sunday morning we all get up, pack our blanket and water bottles, and get ready to go. We all love the taste of Madison, so we were all in a pretty great mood! Once we get there we go and find a spot on the Capital lawn that is close to the rock stage, and we set up our little area. This year we got there earlier and found a little shaded area that had a clear view of the stage. It was heavenly! Once we are all set up my two favorite people head off in search of some yummy food to sample! Different restaurants participate every year, so the food is always different. One thing that I do get every year is a cupcake from Gigi's cupcakery! Sydney and Chris surprised me with it the first year, and every year since then, it is just something that she looks forward to doing. Part of that could be because she gets to pick one for me, and then she gets to pick one for herself. lol. I love it though.

The Taste of Madison is seriously such an amazing event. It's all about spending time with my family in an outside setting, eating good food, and listening to good music. This year we had some pad thai, smoked chicken nachos, teryaki chicken on a stick, gumbo, deep fried cookie dough, deep fried oreos, and of course a cupcake or two. I only remembered to take pictured ot the first two things though. oops!

The food is always pretty amazing! We hang out for a couple of hours listening to music while we eat. We even brought bubbles to play with in hoped it would keep Sydney entertained longer. This year one of the big bands was Framing Hanley, and I really wanted to hear them play. I have recently discovered their song You Stupid Girl, and I love it! That was actually one of the songs they played. They also played Lollipop, which is another one of their songs that I like! It was so cool to see them live! I could have actaully met them, but Sydney was already wearing thin and was just ready to go. So we left after only a few songs from their set. Once we got home we just relaxed for the rest of the day and watched a little Haven

Monday was my actual birthday, and it was a fun day as well. We spent the morning relaxing, but then that afternoon we went out to do a bit of shopping. We paid another visit to my favorite store, stopped by Kohls, and did a little shopping at Old Navy as well.  It was labor day after all, so why not take advantage of those deals right??? lol.

For dinner we came back to town and tried this new sushi place that opened up literally two blocks form our house. We live in a small town in Wisconsin that typically has diners, pizza places, and a mexican restaurant as well as your typical fast food places. I LOVE SUSHI!!! So when we saw that they were opening a place so close, we got both nervous and excited. It would be just my luck to have a sushi place open up and it be awful. But it was amazing! The place was actually really nice inside, so when we sat down I couldn't wait to try the food! Chris and I each got miso soup, and 3 rolls to share. Sydney got the kids hibachi with soba noodles, and miso soup. The food was so good that there literally wasn't a single bite left by the time we were done. I am so excited about this restaurant, but it might not be good that it is so close. Our wallet may not be able to handle that.. lol. I have already had the craving a couple of times since last Monday. I just haven't done anything about it.

Honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better birthday. I felt so loved and so pampered the whole time! I just know that 26 is going to be a great year!
