1 Year

On Saturday, October 18th, Chris and I celebrated 1 year of being married! We have been together for almost 7 years now, but we finally said "I Do" on a Friday in the middle of October one year ago. We spent that entire day as a family, and it seemed only right that we do that on our anniversary as well.

We started our day off with a little pumpkin shopping. We have this farm house that we always go to and buy our pumpkins. This year Sydney is obsessed with ghost pumpkins, so we bought one giant ghost pumpkin and brought him home with us.

Once we came home we decided that is was a gorgeous day, and that it might be fun to go and take some pictures. So Hubs grabbed the camera and tripod, and off we went! We have never really been good about getting family photos. The last one we took was the day we got married and it isn't a great picture. So I was super excited to do these, and we got a couple of good ones!

After family photos we found a park and took some pictures of Sydney obsessing over blowing every single dandelion that she could find. You can check out those pictures in this post. It was fun just to explore and spend time with the two people who mean the most to me in this world. I wouldn't have spent the morning/afternoon any other way!

After photos we took Sydney home to relax for just a little bit. Around 3:30 we had a costume party to go to. When we first heard about the party we were not planning to take her. You see, we actually had a babysitter to watch Sydney from 5:00 to 8:00 so that we could go on the first date we have been able to go on in years. And the party really started at 4:00. So we told her we would go, but that we would be leaving at 5:00. Since one hour is really just not enough time to play, we ended up called to see if we could come a little earlier to give them more time. Sydney can actually still wear her costumes from the last three years, so we decided she would wear a different costume to every party this year. Lol. So Sydney wore her pirate costume from two years ago, added fairy wings, and went to Sam's Halloween party as Zarina! Am I alone in thinking that this was so super cute?!? When we got there she and Sam just took off playing, and were so cute together. We were all having such a good time that we ended up staying until a little after 5:30. We were just going to dinner, so it was okay if we didn't have the full three hours.

Once we dropped Sydney off at our friends house so that she could have a play date for a little while, we took off for a little bit of alone time! I love my little girl with all of my heart, but to have a night to get to go out with my husband for dinner was absolutely amazing! I knew she was fine, and I could just enjoy the evening. If you know anything about us, then you can guess where we went for dinner.... SUSHI! Have I mentioned how much I love having that new sushi place just blocks away from my house???

We ordered our usual miso soup, drinks, and a couple of rolls that we knew we would love! But then we mixed it up and added a couple of pieces of sushi we had never tried. We tried Flying Fish roe and Salmon roe. The flying fish roe (tiny eggs) was awesome, and I would totally order is again. but the salmon roe (huge monstrous eggs) were awful! I put that thing in my mouth and literally had issues swallowing it down. Haha! Afterwards we tried to think of what the taste resembles and all we could come up with was fishy butter. We got to taste that for the rest of the night...

After dinner we still had well over an hour before we had to get Sydney. There isn't much to do in our town, but we wanted to do something. So we ran over to dunkin donuts and grabbed a couple of coffee drinks. We might have needed something to get the fishy butter taste out of our mouths and we were too full for dessert. Lol!

After coffee it was time to go and pick up our little punk. When we got there she was still playing so we just sat down to chat for a little bit. Then when it was time to go Sydney showed us just how tired she was by throwing an epic tantrum and refusing to help pick up the tea party. Yup! That was how our evening ended. We came home and put the monster to bed and then spent the rest of our evening relaxing together on the couch.

It was a long and full day with ups and downs, but you know what... I wouldn't have had it any other way. I got to spend the day celebrating our love with two people who mean everything to me. I can't wait to see what this next year brings!
