Granny Turned 100!!!

Remember yesterday when I briefly mentioned my dream Grandma (Sydney's Great Grandma) and how we had a very important reason behind our trip to Wisconsin. Yup, this amazing woman was the reason we made our trip!

She had a HUGE birthday! I mean how often do you get to see someone you love turn 100?!?

There was a surprise party being thrown for her the next week, whoch makes NO SENSE to me, but we got to spend her actual birthday having some quality time with her, and showing her just how loved she truly is in our family. In all honesty, she didn't want a huge party, so something intimate on her birthday was the perfect fit!

I mean how adorable is this woman?!? She may be 100, but her eye sight is the only thing slowing her down at all. She still lives on her own and takes car of herself and her cat for the most part. I am in awe of her, and what she has lived through! She has so many stories, and she will sit and tell you each and every one of them when you give her a little time. She loves to remember the past and share it.

I love this woman with all of my heart! I am so happy that we made the trip! I would do it all over again just to see her for a few hours and show her how much we love her. Hopefully we will have another party with her next year!

Back To Wisconsin

So almost two weeks after Sydney started school, we had another rather exciting thing happen!

We had a very important reason to make this trip, which I will tell you all about on Monday morning. However, since we were making a trip to Wisconsin, we made the most of it!!! We had something scheduled every single day from the day that we got there, until the day that we left, and we were only there for 5 days.

We left our house after an early dinner on Wednesday night and drove through the night. We are becoming pros at this LONG drive. Getting to Grandma's house early Thursday morning, we did a little visiting and then it was time for Chris and I to get some rest. We were exhausted!!! After napping for 3 hours, we were awake and did some more visiting. I tell you, it was an exciting day!!! lol.

Friday morning we got up and were all ready to have some fun. We had another busy day planned. We were going to go to our favorite library and see some of our friends from our old town. Sydney was beyond excited!!! When Hannah and Gwenn saw Sydney walking up, they ran to the door, and I will never forget the way they squealed and hugged eachother when they finally were together again. It was so freaking cute!!!

They had a blast!!! We may have had to tell them to use indoor voices and stop running several times, but can you really blame them? They missed eachother!!! lol. At one point I walked around the corner to see them all sitting on the floor together just lounging and talking. It was like a preview to her teenage years! While we were there a special visitor from Sydney and Gwenn's old school stopped by briefly to say hello.

We loved getting to see Mrs. Olson (her old preschool teacher) for a little while, and she brought me Sydney's yearbook from last year. I was happy to get that because when I saw the other parents getting them in Facebook after we moved I got a little sad. We ended up staying at the library for a couple of hours, and then it was time for a family lunch date and some birthday shopping with my mother in law. She knew she wouldn't be coming down for Sydney's birthday or mine, so she wanted to take us shopping while we were up there. Let me just say that she definitely spoiled my little girl!!! After this we rested until it was time to meet some family for dinner. At this dinner Sydney finally crashed from her cold and our trip, and she slept on me for almost an hour. This kid never does that in public! lol. While I was having to be extremely careful eating my salad so I didn't get dressing in her hair, I loved every moment of it.

Saturday morning was a day we were all excited about. We were going to see our besties!!! Sydney was more than excited when we got there. Once we walked in their door, Sydney was gone! We only saw her when she was hungry for a snack, and when she wanted something to drink. Lol. After a couple of hours we decided to head out to lunch together!

Look at how cute the girls are together! I don't know how we are going to go several months again without seeing them! We will have to make sure we see each other a couple of times a year even with the distance. Because these girls are just too cute together, and we love their parents! If entire families could be best friends, then thats how our families are. It is never dull when we are together. It really was a great day of visiting, and it was a monumental day as far as decisions go. Chris and I made a decision that was slightly life altering, and I will go into that a little more next week. We were sad for the visit with our best friends to end, but once it did we went back to Grandma's and had a yummy dinner and some family time.

Sunday was another long busy day, but this day deserves to be featured in a post all on it's own. Let's just say we got to spend some quality time with Great Grandma, and we loved every moment of it.

It was an amazing getting to visit with this woman. I would love to have had her as my grandmother growing up. It's a good thing I get her as a grandparent now.

On Monday morning we packed everything up, got back in the car, and started the REALLY LONG drive home. I don't know why, but I take a picture of Sydney sleeping every trip to and from Wisconsin. I love looking at her when she is so at peace and relaxed. She is so cute!

Now life is back to normal, and we have already planned the next trip. Luckily we aren't the ones making it though, because we booked plane tickets for Grandma to come down over Christmas break while we were up in Wisconsin. I love being back in Georgia, and don't regret moving back for a second, but I will admit that it was nice to be back for a few days to see our loved ones that we left behind. Wisconsin is now a huge part of who I am now, and we will probably always make little trips to visit.

Oh my gosh! I can not believe that it has really been a month since I have posted! I feel like I have SO MUCH to talk about and catch you up on! I will take it slow though, and start with what I know your all waiting for... A kindergarten update!!!

Sydney's first day of kindergarten was on August 6th. Chris stayed home a little longer with me, and we both took her to school on her first day of school. We were all a bit nervous, but when I picked her up, she was in a great mood! I was sitting at the house all day barely even able to concentrate because it was just too quiet, and she was having a blast!

Now that we are a month in, I can officially say that SHE LOVES SCHOOL! I am so happy about this! We are doing the parent drop off and pick up route every day, and I am so glad that we chose that option! She wakes up every day excited to go to school, and comes home every day in a great mood, even if she is a little hungry! lol. She has learned so much in the last month. She has been studying her site words every single, and is starting to learn to read. Her hand writing has even started improving. I can't get over the differences that she is already showing.

In all honesty, I can't believe that my little girl is really a kindergartener already. Next thing you know she will be six! Someone hold me please! My mama heart just isn't ready!

Kindergarten Already?!?

I am so full of mixed emotions right now that it is not even funny! I know that this has been a long time coming, but my sweet baby is not a baby anymore. Sydney starts kindergarten in exactly ONE WEEK!

How in the world is this even possible?!? I mean I know she is ready. In reality she is so beyond ready. She loved preschool and has missed it every single day since we moved.

Kindergarten is such a big step. This is the start of a very long journey for her! Instead of the 2.5 hours a day that she attended preschool, she will now be going for the entire day. This will be the most that I have been away from her since she was born!

We go and meet her teacher on Tuesday! Normally I would be nervous and freaking out about all of the little questions you ask yourself at this point. But we are extremely lucky! All of the kindergarten teachers at this school are really really nice, but I actually know her teacher. I grew up around her, and I know that Sydney will be in amazing hands!

Now that the worry is gone, I go back to these mixed emotions. There are some days when I am almost in tears thinking about Sydney starting school, and then there are days when I am like "thank god!". Lol. I work from home, so I will be able to focus on work when she is in school and focus on just being mommy when she isn't. I know that she is going to have so much fun, learn so much, and maybe even make some life long friends. So as nervous/sad as I am about her starting, I am also so excited!

My baby starts kindergarten in one week, and it's a really good thing!

We Finally Found A New One!!!

When we moved from Wisconsin, one of the things that I was really sad about was losing our local library. Yes, you read that right! Our library in Portage was AMAZING! I am pretty sure that I have even posted about it a few times on here.

Last Saturday we went to the library in town and it was just so disappointing... I mean they had a tiny kids section with some kids books and a table or two, but it was dark and old! I just didn't love it after being spoiled by our old library. We signed up for a library card anyways because I think it's good for her to go to the library often like she did before the move. As I am signing up for the card I am told that I was signing up for a PINES library card. You can check out and return books to any of the other pines libraries. You don't always have to return to the one you checked out from. AWESOME! This means I can explore other libraries and maybe find one we love with the same card!

On Monday morning Sydney and I got in the car to go to the library in the next town over. The library in our town is about 10 minutes away from our house, and the library in the next town over is about 16 minutes away. That's really not too bad of a difference, so it was worth a shot! We walk in and this is what we see!

The kids section to the library was amazing! It may not have been it's own library like our old one, but it takes up about half of the building and it looks so clean! I love it! The moment we got there Sydney runs to that little playhouse and just starts having fun all on her own. Then she made her way over to the computers...

She always makes her way over to the computer eventually. When she sat down there was a little girl on the computer next to hers. But while I was looking for books to check out they decided to move to the same computer and play the games together! It was so cute!

After the other little girl left, she was back in her own world. I love getting to watch her explore and learn in her own way. As ready as I am for her to start school, I am going to miss her like crazy! I am thinking that we will have to make this trip once a week after school. Letting her enjoy a library is super important, and I love that we found one I think she will actually enjoy.
